I don't know about you, but white on black just doesn't do it for me any more.
And it just reminds me of MS-DOS. And when you're trying to be a rabid Unix hardliner, any comparison with DOS is just sooooo uncoool.
Now I've always been a bit of a green-on-black man myself, but that's just me. Perfect for that 80's teller machine look.
The following will achieve the result of green characters on a black background - I must admit I haven't experimented with other colours. I'll leave that for you.
Edit rc.conf with the following line..
Save and exit from your text editor and reboot the system. As soon as Starting ssh.. kicks in, you should see the change in the console. And your (soon to be ex-) noob chums will say, "Hey, how do you make DOS go green like that..?"
